Mr Hooper’s unexpected death on Sesame Street introduced children to the loss of a friend in 1982: 30 years ago.
All that first aired in April of 1994 on Nickelodeon. 18 years ago.
I was working at a game shop a few years ago when a kid walked in and asked me for a copy of Super Smash Brothers 2. I quickly snatched a copy of Melee off of the shelf when he chimes in, “No! That’s the first one…” My coworker then stepped in explaining that the first one was for the Nintendo 64. He had no idea what that was.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) came out almost 20 years ago (July 1992)

There was no internet. I was born the same year that Led Zeppelin’s last studio album came out. Led Zeppelin is still one of my top five favorite bands of all time.
Few months ago I was at the movies wearing a Thundercats shirt. Kid came up and said “Hey Thundercats, I love that show, but how did you get a tshirt when it just came on two weeks ago?”
Thundercats came out in 1985. 27 years ago. Its entirely possible this kid’s dad wasn’t even old enough to have seen it when it first aired!
So, Red Dwarf started 24 years ago today.
